A Little Bit About Me

I was born and raised in Spain, where I lived until the age of 11, when my family moved to Northern California. What started as a planned 9-month stay turned into 12 years! Adjusting to a new life was initially difficult due to culture shock, my limited English skills, being far from home, and not knowing anyone. For our first Christmas in the U.S., my mom came up with the idea to dress in what we imagined as "full American gear" to send a humorous photo back to family and friends in Spain. That picture, filled with laughter and fond memories, symbolizes the beginning of our American adventure. These early experiences taught me the importance of adaptability and empathy, qualities I continue to apply in both my personal and professional life.
Over time, I’ve embraced the American way of life and now proudly consider it my second home. However, Spain remains deeply rooted in my heart as my true home and culture. We return to Spain every summer, and throughout the year, my family and I keep our traditions alive by enjoying Spanish food and celebrating our heritage. In this photo, my sisters and I are dressed in traditional Sevillian attire, a reflection of our pride in our culture and its rich history. These ongoing connections to Spain reinforce my passion for cultural diversity and highlight the importance of maintaining meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life.

Living in the United States has opened doors to explore other cultures around the world. I’ve had the privilege of traveling to Thailand, Mexico, and Costa Rica, where I’ve witnessed how culture shapes people’s lives and communication styles. These experiences have deepened my fascination with human behavior and inspired me to study Communication. I’m passionate about understanding how cultural backgrounds influence how people interact, connect, and make decisions. Through these trips, I’ve learned how to engage with people from diverse cultures and build meaningful relationships. These experiences also affirmed my commitment to bringing empathy and cultural understanding to my professional work, where I aim to bridge cultural gaps and foster connection.
This past June 2024, I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a degree in Communication. While my coursework was largely research-based, I also pursued classes in advertising and marketing to bridge my passion for understanding human behavior with the practicalities of business strategy. These courses gave me the tools to analyze messaging, develop branding strategies, and engage audiences effectively. Moving forward, I’m eager to bring my bicultural knowledge, global perspective, and passion for connecting with others into the workplace, contributing to projects that foster communication across diverse communities. I am particularly excited to apply my skills in digital marketing, content strategy, and cross-cultural communication to create impactful, audience-driven campaigns.
